Give Kids a Smile (GKAS) is the ADA's major oral health outreach program, launched to encourage parents, health professionals and policymakers to address this important health issue. Some 50,000 dental professionals volunteer to provide free services to more than 320,000 children at 2,000 program sites nationwide annually. GKAS dental volunteers provide educational materials, screenings and, where possible, free dental care such as cleanings, X-rays and fillings. Most GKAS events take place during February's National Children's Dental Health Month, through the volunteer efforts of dentists and dental team members and the generous support of corporate sponsors. The Chester County and Delaware County Dental Society conducts Give Kids A Smile events in the spring and fall at locations in both Chester and Delaware counties.

We would like to thank the dentists, hygienists, assistants, and staff members who donated their
expertise and dental supplies to provide dental care and education for indigent children on Friday, October 7th at Dr. Theresa Devine’s office in Broomall. Thanks to your efforts our GKAS Program continues to provide dental care and education to children that
would otherwise not receive this integral component of their health and well-being.

The best way to get involved is to contact the Chester County and Delaware County Dental Society directly through this website. Dr’s Bernie Logan and Linda Himmelberger are the local program chairperson's for the events. These events are supported by local dentists, hygienists and dental assistants who donate their offices, time and resources. Partial funding for these events comes from the dental society through an annual donation. There are many levels of participation that you can choose, from donation of supplies and monies up to providing care during one to the scheduled events. Watch our calendar for future events.
Come an join a team that has been lauded on both local and national levels to help eliminate the ongoing challenges that underserved children face in accessing oral health care, and to build support among policymakers for public and private solutions that provide regular access. |
